2nTwo Podcast Launch

Thursday, January 18th, 2024

Earlier this year, we were thrilled to announce Nottingham Trent University (NTU) graduate Anjola “Anjy” Olosunde as this year’s recipient of the Janno Media Award for podcasting.

The Janno Media Award has been established to provide opportunities for those looking to explore their podcasting ambitions, whilst giving back to the university community that played such a vital role in the personal and professional development of Janno Media founder, Matt Wallace.

With the support of a £5,000 bursary, Anjy has been working on her podcast series, “2nTwo,” and we’re thrilled to announce that Episode 1 of the podcast has now been published.

The series promises enlightening conversations with a diverse array of guests, delving into diverse perspectives on societal issues.

Anjy’s personal journey, immigrating to the UK from Nigeria at the age of seven, plays a central role in her podcast. Anjy shared her thoughts on receiving the award and developing her podcast series, saying:

I want to convey through this podcast that there’s beauty in people from all walks of life and experiences coming together and that people have more similarities than sometimes perceived. Expect reformed prisoners, teachers, artists, actors, podcast hosts, and more.

John Collins, Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Broadcasting & Journalism at NTU, said:

At NTU, we pride ourselves on being able to replicate industry practices within the classroom. Embedding the Janno Media Award within our recently developed Podcasting module was a natural fit.

Anjy’s eligibility for the award was earned by impressing both John and Matt with her pilot podcast episode, co-created for her Year Three podcasting module with fellow student Jack Clark. Anjy added:

I’m so grateful to Janno Media for allowing me to create this series, I love the honesty and authenticity generated from the conversations I’m having.

As an NTU alumnus (BA Hons Communication Studies), Matt graduated from the university in 2002 and subsequently served as President of Nottingham Trent Students’ Union before working in the university’s Press Office. His academic and professional interest in journalism and new media has been instrumental in shaping Janno Media’s podcasting department in recent years.

Matt said:

We’re really proud to be contributing to the already amazing opportunities that NTU provides for its students.  Seeing this year’s award going to Anjy has been a huge highlight for me, and supporting her professional journey and the innovative future of journalism is something I’m really proud about being able to do.
