Project overview

Janno Media has partnered with Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) for a number of years, supporting the successful ReImagine Law podcast. Building on this relationship, we were delighted to collaborate on additional student-led series, including Yours Lawfully and Making Climate Law Work.

Produced by postgraduate law and tech students, these podcasts explore key topics across technology, media, intellectual property, and climate law. Featuring legal experts, academics, and industry leaders, the series provide a platform for students to engage with real-world issues while contributing to the university’s growing podcast portfolio.

The brief

While students brought strong ideas and enthusiasm, they faced common challenges around podcast production, including limited technical experience, time constraints alongside their studies, and inconsistencies in audio quality.

The university wanted to enable students to focus on research, storytelling, and interviews, while ensuring the final output was professional, polished, and consistent. The goal was to create a clear, repeatable production process that removed technical barriers and supported high-quality, broadcast-ready content.

Our approach

Working closely with the students, we provided full-service podcast support, from initial planning through to recording and post-production. All episodes were recorded remotely at times convenient for both students and their guests, ensuring flexibility without compromising quality.

We guided students on recording best practices and managed the technical aspects of production, including editing and audio refinement, to deliver a consistent and professional finish. By streamlining the process, we enabled students to focus on content and creativity, while we handled the complexities behind the scenes.

We also worked collaboratively on edits, ensuring quick turnaround times and giving students confidence in the final output.

Key highlights

  • Production of a 12-episode Yours Lawfully series, alongside additional student-led podcasts
  • Remote recording to accommodate student schedules and international guest speakers
  • Consistent, high-quality audio across all episodes
  • End-to-end support, from planning and recording through to final edit
  • Valuable, hands-on experience for students in professional podcast production
  • We've loved working with Sassy and the team at Janno Media. They are clearly excellent at their job, but what made the biggest difference to us was how enthusiastic, supportive and informative they were with our students. Our students felt confident and well-supported when recording their podcast episode with a guest for the first time, and that lifted a big burden off our shoulders. We could focus on the quality of the research and interview they were preparing, knowing the recording would be taken care of. They were also consistently clear, kind and flexible when recordings needed to be rescheduled or small portions re-recorded. We couldn't have asked for a more competent and supportive partner on this project. Thank you so much!

The result

The Yours Lawfully series has built on the success of QMUL’s wider podcast offering, delivering a full series of engaging, high-quality episodes while enhancing the university’s broader content portfolio.

Students gained valuable real-world experience in podcasting, producing content they can be genuinely proud of, while the university further strengthened its position in legal education and thought leadership. The series demonstrates the power of combining student-led creativity with professional production expertise.
