women resisting violence

Women Resisting Violence is a co-production between Latin America Bureau and King’s College London, drawing on research from Cathy McIlwaine and Jelke Boesten.

This month, we’ve partnered with the Latin America Bureau (LAB) by creating a pro-bono, bonus episode of their Women Resisting Violence podcast series.

This instalment, produced by Janno Media’s Sassy Clyde, contextualises the powerful stories of transformation and solidarity showcased in the Women Resisting Violence podcast and is based on an online discussion in which LAB presented the project, caught up with members of the women’s organisations and spoke to Latin America podcast producers about contemporary forms of activism and collaboration across borders.

Women Resisting Violence is a three-part podcast series which hears the extraordinary experiences of women addressing and resisting gender-based violence in Brazil, Guatemala and the UK.

  • It is so important to learn from women from Latin America about the innovative projects they have developed to resist gender-based violence against women. Our independently-produced podcast Women Resisting Violence is a small step towards raising the profile of women-led organisations and activities that challenge the state and support women in their resistance activities. Thanks to the bright, warm and efficient team at Janno Media, we had the opportunity to produce a separate, bonus episode reflecting on our collaborative project and placing it within wider trends of podcasting for social justice.

We’re honoured to support the Latin America Bureau with this bonus episode which will be be released on 8 March 2022 – International Women’s Day.
