We first came across Arthur Wharton in a Black History Month edition of our weekly bulletin, ContentED. AMS’ Creative Director, Jason Graham curated five pieces of digital content in this special guest issue, leading us to the eye-opening “Remembering Arthur Wharton, Number 1” video on YouTube.
Arthur was the world’s first black professional footballer and official fastest man on Earth! A pioneer and trailblazer in sporting history. A fact which hasn’t always been acknowledged.
The video led us to the Arthur Wharton Foundation – a charity founded by Shaun Campbell. The Foundation is all about celebrating the life and achievements of Arthur, promoting equality, and making waves with education and events.
After reaching out to Shaun to let him know that we were featuring the video and foundation in Issue #81 of ContentED, we were thrilled when he accepted an invitation to talk to us on our Janno Signal podcast.
